A TOTAL of 241 Ministry of Health Staff were awarded Long Service Honorary Medals yesterday.

The presentation of medals was held to mark the 68th and 69th birthday of His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah, the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam.

Minister of Health Yang Berhormat Dato Paduka Dr Hj Zulkarnain Hj Hanafi presented the medals to recipients at the ministry’s headquarters.

Permanent Secretary of Health Zakaria Hj Serudin hoped the medals will further encourage the recipients and all members of the Ministry of Health to continue their service towards realising Vision 2035.

One of the recipients, Hjh Siti Anim Hj Ibrahim, senior assistant nurse at Raja Isteri Pengiran Anak Saleha (RIPAS) Hospital, extended her appreciation to His Majesty for the medal she received after having worked at the ministry for 36 years.

In an interview on the sidelines of the presentation ceremony, she called on junior nurses to always comply with regulations, maintain self-discipline and provide care to patients.

“We should remain patient when doing our jobs,” said Hjh Siti Anim.

Sharing similar sentiments, Hjh Nursyazwani Abdullah, nursing officer at the National Isolation Centre in Tutong, also expressed her gratitude for receiving the award.

Hjh Nursyazwani, who has been serving in the Ministry of Health for 26 years, said receiving the medal will encourage her to strive for excellence.
