Reaping blessings to benefit from Ramadhan

IN reaping the benefits of Ramadhan several ministries yesterday organised religious events across the country.

The Ministry of Development yesterday held a tadarus event, as well as a wakaf presentation and iftar at the Kg Bengkurong Mosque.

Minister of Development Yang Berhormat Dato Paduka Hj Bahrin Abdullah presented 30 rihal (Al-Quran stands) to the mosque’s head imam Hj Nasrul Hazimin Hj Sapar.

Also present at the event was MoD Deputy Minister Dato Paduka Hj Suhaimi Hj Gapar, Permanent Secretary (Administration and Finance) Hj Muhammad Lutfi Abdullah, Permanent Secretary (Technical and Professional) Eddie Dato Paduka Hj Sunny and Deputy Permanent Secretary Hj Marzuke Hj Mohsin.

The ministry also announced that it will be holding a Khatam Al-Quran event for its departments on June 25 at the Duli Pengiran Muda Mahkota Pg Muda Hj Al-Muhtadee Billah Mosque in Kg Tamoi.

Meanwhile, the Ministry of Primary Resources and Tourism (MPRT) held a Khatam Al-Quran event yesterday at the Pengiran Anak Puteri Hajah Rashidah Mosque in Kg Sungai Akar.

At the event, MPRT Minister Yang Berhormat Dato Paduka Hj Ali Hj Apong presented wakaf in the form of six ceiling fans to the mosque.

MPRT Permanent Secretary Dr Hj Abdul Manaf Hj Metussin also attended the event.

In Temburong, the Ministry of Education (MoE) held a tadarus event at the Rataie Primary School, which was attended by Deputy Minister of Education Pg Dato Hj Bahrom Pg Hj Bahar.

There, the deputy education minister presented wakaf to be used by the primary school to its Senior Administration Teacher Hj Aslan Hj Rosli.

Among those present were Legislative Council Member Yang Berhormat Hj Sulaiman Hj Ahad, Universiti Islam Sultan Sharif Ali (UNISSA) Rector Dr Hj Norarfan Hj Zainal, MoE Deputy Permanent Secretary (Higher Education) Associate Professor Dr Hj Azman Ahmad and Head Director of Education Hj Abd Rahim Derus.

The Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports (MCYS) similarly held a youth tadarus and Khatam Al-Quran event at the Rataie National Housing Scheme in Temburong yesterday.

According to MCYS, the event involved 180 youth from Temburong, who represented government agencies, the Arab Temburong Preparatory School, the Pengiran Muda Mohammad Bolkiah School and youth organisations.

Present as the guest of honour was MCYS Permanent Secretary Dato Paduka Dr Hj Affendy Pehin Orang Kaya Saiful Mulok Dato Seri Paduka Hj Abidin.

The ministry said that the event was aimed at promoting youth involvement in religious activities, and to strengthen their faith and identity in facing challenges that lie ahead.
