THE Blood Donation Centre will commemorate World Blood Donor Day across all four districts through several night blood donation drives.

The Ministry of Health said the centre will be operating at a different time than usual in the Brunei-Muara district.

The blood donation drive will be held at the ministry’s Al-Afiah Hall located at Commonwealth Drive on June 15 and 18. Both sessions will take place from 8.30pm to 10.30pm.

Tutong will commemorate the occasion on July 2 at the lobby of Pengiran Muda Mahkota Pengiran Muda Hj Al-Muhtadee Billah Hospital from 8.30pm to 10.30pm.

In Belait, the blood drive will be held at KB Central from 10am to 2pm on July 14 while Temburong will have it at the Bangar Youth Centre from 9am to 11.30am on July 28.

Those who are interested in donating blood are encouraged to participate in the blood drives in order to help save the lives of patients who may need blood transfusions, said the department in its statement.

In addition to the blood drives, the Blood Donation Centre will also operate at extended hours for several select days.

The additional hours will run from 8.30pm to 10.30pm at the centre located at the Raja Isteri Pengiran Anak Saleha Hospital. The dates are June 16, 21, 22 and 28.

The Blood Donation Centre in the capital will also continue to operate in the morning throughout the month of Ramadhan from 8am to 2pm.
