MORE than half of this year’s intending Haj pilgrims have ordered their designated ID bracelets to be worn during their Haj, said a representative from an appointed wristband provider.

Manager of Syarikat Manggo Tree Advertising Sabli Hj Lamat, said a total of 286 people have successfully made their bracelet orders at the company during its first week of opening orders on June 1.

He said that the 286 bracelets will be ready for collection on June 15.

According to an officer from the Haj Department under Ministry of Religious Affairs (MoRA), the ID wristbands for intending Haj pilgrims is to conform to Saudi government’s requirement.

The officer, who wished to remain anonymous, said the quota for Bruneian Haj pilgrims this year remains at 400.

He told The Brunei Times that the ID bracelets is for travellers to wear at all times during their Haj, adding that it is compulsory to wear as an identification tag.

The Haj Department last month reminded intending pilgrims to order their designated ID bracelets or wristbands.

The ID bracelets can still be ordered from the company located in Jalan Gadong throughout the month of June and July, before pilgrims leave for their Haj in August.

“So far we have received almost 300 orders not inclusive of health officials and Haj officers that will be going with the pilgrims,” said Sabli.

He said placing orders for ID bracelets only take a short time as it only requires the measurement of the client’s wrist.

“We usually get last minute orders, sometimes a few days and even just a day before they leave for their Haj,” he said.

The company is located on the first floor of Bangunan Kumbang Pasang. It opens from Mondays to Saturdays from 8.30am to 5pm, and from 8.30am to 11.30am and 2pm to 5pm on Fridays.
