Minister of Religious Affairs holds Khatam Al-Quran

The Minister of Religious Affairs yesterday hosted a Khatam Al-Quran ceremony at his residence in Kg Sungai Besar.

The annual ceremony was one of the religious activities personally held by Yang Berhormat Pehin Udana Khatib Dato Paduka Seri Setia Ustaz Hj Awang Badaruddin to enliven the holy of month of Ramadhan with officials from his ministry.

It was also held to foster stronger relations among the Muslim community residing in the area.

The Khatam Al-Quran ceremony saw the completion of all 30 juzuks being read by officials from the ministry every evening beginning June 5.

Yesterday’s ceremony was held before the Maghrib prayer, with the mass recital of tahlil led by Zulkifli Hj Murat, an official from the Masjid Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien.

This was followed by the Khatam Al-Quran and the reading of the doa Khatam led by an education officer at the Institut Tahfiz Al-Quran Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah (ITQSHHB), Hj Hashim Hj Abdullah.

Syariah Appeals Court judge, Pehin Orang Kaya Paduka Setia Raja Dato Paduka Seri Setia Hj Awang Suhaili Hj Mohiddin attended the event.

Also present during the ceremony were Deputy Minister of Religious Affairs, Dato Paduka Hj Abdul Mokti Haji Md Daud, Permanent Secretary, Dato Seri Setia Hj Abdul Aziz Orang Kaya Maharaja Lela Hj Yussof, Deputy Permanent Secretary, Hj Harun Hj Junid, directors, senior officers and officials under the ministry.

Tadarus is one of the annual activities carried out during the fasting month of Ramadhan, where Muslims take turns to recite the Quran, from the beginning to the end.
