THE Museums Department yesterday announced the closure of its galleries and exhibition halls during the upcoming public holiday to mark the first day of the fasting month.

Ramadhan this year is scheduled to begin on June 6 or the day after, pending the result of the moon sighting. The galleries and exhibition halls will reopen on the following day with shorter opening hours throughout the fasting month.

The public may visit the galleries and exhibition halls from 9am to 3pm on weekdays and from 9am to 12pm on Fridays, but doors will shut 30 minutes before closing.

The change will affect the Malay Technology Museum, Royal Regalia Building, Tasek Merimbun Heritage Park, Art Gallery at the Bandar Seri Begawan Royal Wharf, Maritime Museum, Kota Batu I Information Centre and Complex, and Sports Gallery.

However, the Brunei Museum and Bubungan Dua Belas will remain closed to the public due to ongoing renovations. - Rabiatul Kamit
