Japan’s National Institute for Defense Studies visits MinDef

A DELEGATION from Japan’s National Institute for Defense Studies (NIDS) in Brunei Darussalam yesterday visited the Ministry of Defence (MinDef).

The delegation, which was headed by NIDS Education Department Director Captain Tetsuo Ando, was in Brunei for a three-day study tour, said the Japanese Embassy in a press statement.

During the visit to MinDef, the delegates received a briefing on the ministry’s roles and Brunei’s defence policies.

The delegates also gave presentations about security challenges which were facing Japan and the region.

According to the embassy, this was NIDS’s first visit to MinDef, which provided both with an opportunity to exchange views on defence cooperation and the regional security envrionment.

The delegates also visited the Royal Brunei Armed Forces Museum at the Bolkiah Garrison, before making a courtesy call to the Japanese Ambassador Noriko Iki at the Japanese Embassy.
