THE finals of the National Musabaqah Al-Quran Memorisation and Interpretation Competition will be held next Wednesday at the International Convention Centre’s Musyawarah Hall.

The two-day competition is divided into five categories.

Categories ‘A’, ‘B’, ‘C’, ‘D’ and ‘E’ have different criteria to fulfil such as different juzuk (chapters) and verses of the Quran to memorise and interpret.

Category A is open to contestants aged 10 years and below, who are required to memorise chosen surah from 30 juzuk of the Quran.

Meanwhile, category B is for contestants 15 years and below.

This category requires the memorisation of Surah Luqmaan, Surah As-Sajdah, Surah Yasin, Surah Al-Insaan, Surah Ar-Rahmaan, Surah Al-Waqi’ah and Surah Al-Mulk.

The participants must also possess an understanding of Surah Mumtahannah, Surah Munaffiqun, Surah At-Talak and Surah Al-Jumuah.

According to a press statement, category C, D and E are open to all ages, with the requirements for each category varying in difficulty and chapters to be read.

The semi-finals of the National Musabaqah Al-Quran Memorisation and Interpretation Competition were held last month at Institut Tahfiz Al-Quran Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah. Only five contestants from each category were selected.
