Dep’t plans two more fish carnivals

THE Department of Fisheries at the Ministry of Primary Resources and Tourism is currently hosting the second mini-carnival this year at the Muara Fish Landing Comples.

The mini-carnival which was kicked off yesterday morning will continue to see the participation of 27 vendors from the aquaculture, the capture and the seafood processing sectors.

In an interview the assistant secretariat committee member, Hjh Zuliza Hj Jolkifli, said that the department is planning to host two more mini-carnivals this year but the dates will only be disclosed at a later stage.

“The response from the public and operators has been very welcoming. We have noticed repeat customers and also operators. The operators have a lot of variety to offer to members of the public,” said Hjh Zuliza who is also a fisheries officer with the department.

“People are also interested in knowing what kind of products are available in the fisheries industry especially the local products,” she added.

During the last carnival, the department introduced an initiative on cleanliness for the operators and the assistant secretariat committee member said that the committee has noticed that the vendors have been adhering to the set standards of cleanliness.
