THE High Court yesterday adjourned the Kg Pandan murder case for one month while the defendant seeks for legal aid.

The defendant Muhammad Zulkifli Abdul Jalil, 27, is facing the charge of gang robbery and murder of 43-year-old Ispawi Idris on May 20, 2015, at a house in Pandan 7 National Housing Scheme. The charge carries the death penalty.

The Magistrates’ Court remitted the case to the High Court last week after delivering its ruling on the preliminary inquiry that there are sufficient grounds for the case to proceed to trial.

The case yesterday was heard before High Court judge Justice Dato Paduka Steven Chong. Prosecuting officers Siti Nurjauinah Hj Kula and Hussin Ali Idris appeared for the prosecution yesterday while Zulkifli is unrepresented.

Zulkifli was ordered to be further remanded at Jerudong Prison pending the next mention of the case on June 29.
