“There are a lot of things that we have largely ignored or maybe have forgotten such as the history of our national flag or anthem (but) this briefing reminded us that these are the things that we need to know and be proud of,” he said.

The village head went on to say that after the briefing, he intends to hold a meeting with the other members of his MPK to discuss regarding the village’s future plans in trying to inspire patriotism among their community.

He added that the briefing also inspired him and his MPK members to strive in trying to develop their village as well as the villages under the Mukim Berakas A.

Hj Dayang Hj Kassim, an officer from the Information Department who was one of the presenters during the briefing said that the department will continue to improve the Informed Society Programme as it creates awareness among the public.

“This programme will help members of the public to realise their patriotic spirit (and) it also helps us to disseminate accurate information regarding our country at the ground level by approaching villages and mukims in the nation,” he added.
