TWENTY primary school teachers from Yayasan Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah (YSHHB) Primary School yesterday received certificates for completing a three-day Malay language pedagogy workshop.

During the workshop, the teachers received additional knowledge on Malay essay writing scenarios and techniques, as well as marking schemes.

The workshop was conducted by Hj Ahmad Masrun, education officer from the Ministry of Education’s Department of Schools.

Speaking to The Brunei Times, Hj Ahmad said the objective of the workshop was to further increase teachers’ competencies.

He said he has conducted similar workshops for Malay language primary school teachers all over the country.

In a statement, YSHHB Primary School said there was a need for teachers to constantly increase and update their pedagogical knowledge in order not to be left behind in terms of the diversity of teaching methods and that it was no longer sufficient for teachers to just be armed with teaching experience.

Acting Principal of YSHHB Primary School Alimas Hj Md Ali presented the certificates of completion to the teachers.
