A TOTAL of 249 graduating students from Seri Begawan Religious Teachers University College (KUPU SB) will be attending a three-day programme to enhance their faith and spirituality.

The ‘Strengthening Spiritual and Aqidah Programme for Upcoming KUPU SB 2016 Graduates’ will be held from May 24 to May 26 at KUPU SB.

During a press conference at the college yesterday, KUPU SB Dean of Students Dr Hj Noralizam Hj Aliakbar said the purpose of the programme is to provide a final comprehensive experience to the students before their graduation.

He said the objectives of the programme are to shape students towards excellence and piousness, to promote a positive attitude and perseverance towards challenges, to produce influential role models and to prepare them for their role as public educators.

To meet the objectives, the programme will conduct several activities including workshops, presentations, seminars and aerobic exercises. Among the topics that will be covered are Islam, Malay Islam Beraja and the Arabic language.

These activities will be conducted by academic staff from KUPU SB as well as invited speakers, one of which is former Minister of Religious Affairs Pg Dato Seri Setia Dr Hj Mohammad Pg Hj Abdul Rahman.

The students will be encouraged to reside in the college hostel for the duration of the programme as events can run as early as 3am to 10.30pm.

The students will also be required to leave their mobile phones during the activities to ensure they are fully committed to learning.

According to Dr Hj Noralizam, the programme has been upgraded from an optional programme to a larger and much more comprehensive compulsory programme that will be held annually starting from this year.
