Good response to Tutong Ramadhan Bazaar
MORE than half of the 60 slots available for Ramadhan Charity Bazaar in Tutong are already filled, according to an executive of the Tutong Former Civil Servants Association (PAKATAN).
In a phone interview, executive committee of PAKATAN’s Economic Bureau Hj Muhd Yussof Hj Muhd Yassin, told The Brunei Times that the charity bazaar which will be held during the month of Ramadhan has been getting good response from the public with over 30 slots have been booked.
He said that one of the reasons for the enthusiastic response is the cheap registration fee as vendors need to pay only $60 for rent for the entire month.
“Our main aim in doing this (the charity bazaar) is to support local businesses and showcase the products of Tutong vendors,” said Hj Muhd Yussof.
In collaboration with the Tutong Municipal Department, the bazaar will be held along the street behind Jalan Enchi Awang.
The site will be divided into three sections — food and drinks, barbeque and grilling area as well as a designated area for clothing.
The provided site will be ‘open-hawker’ style as the stalls and booths will be set up according to vendors’ preferences, said Hj Muhd Yussof. “Rather than having uniformed stalls, we want it to have more variety to create a livelier atmosphere,” he added. In a press statement issued by the association yesterday, it said that entry forms for the bazaar can be obtained from PAKATAN’s headquarters. Priority will be given to local Malay applicants living in the district. The deadline for submitting the application is May 30 while voting for allocation of slots will be on June 3.
