YOUTH are reminded to remain close to the institution of the mosque as mosques are among the holy places to worship Allah SWT.

Speaking on the sidelines of a Ratib Al-Attas recital ceremony at Kg Salambigar’s mosque yesterday, Head of the Imarah Section at Department of Mosque Affairs, Hj Juffle Hj Mega told The Brunei Times that the event was aimed to cultivate an attachment of youth towards mosque institution as a place for them to perform their ibadah and good deeds.

In doing so, not only are they performing their duties as Muslims and worshipping Allah SWT, they are also creating closer ukhwah (bonds) with other visitors and those from the mosque’s committee,” said the religious officer.

Addressing more than 300 youth who participated in the mass recitation ceremony, Hj Juffle further said that the involvement of youth in such activity is hoped to produce a generation of youth who is pious and devoted to Islam.

“The event is also to instill in them the practice of doing (daily) zikir to prevent them from being involved in activities that go against our teachings and beliefs,” added the officer.

He went on to say that such events held at the mosque would also contribute to longer-term goals of glorifying the mosque as not only a place for worship, but also a centre for religious learning, education and knowledge.

The mass recitation of Ratib Al-Attas which comprised a collection of selected verses was led by Head of Imams at Kg Salambigar’s mosque, Hj Abd Halim Hj Bungsu.

Among the benefits of reciting it includes to ask for protection, blessings and prosperity for ownself, properties as well as the nation from any unwanted elements.

Held in conjunction with the Isra’ Mikraj celebration, the event was attended by students from six schools in Zon 2B (SM Saidina Abu Bakar, SR Lambak Kanan Jalan 49, SR Dato Basir Lambak Kanan, SR Hj Mohd Salleh and PGGMB school) along with government personnel.

Present as the guest of honor was Hj Abdul Rajid Hj Mohd Salleh, director of Mosque Affairs under the ministry.
