THE Institute of Brunei Technical Education (IBTE) yesterday announced the new designated names for institutions under its purview.

According to IBTE, this is part of the transformation and rebranding of the technical education system in Brunei as laid out in IBTE’s strategic transformation plan. The seven new designations of IBTE institutions are the IBTE Sultan Saiful Rijal Campus, IBTE Jefri Bolkiah Campus, IBTE Nakhoda Ragam Campus, IBTE Sultan Bolkiah Campus, IBTE Agro-Technology Campus, IBTE Business Campus and IBTE Mechanical Campus.

In a statement from IBTE, it said that the renaming is hoped to enhance the “perceptions of technical education in the country in its dynamic role in realising the aspiration of Brunei Darussalam in achieving its Vision 2035”.

The statement added: “The rebranding of the institutions’ names marks a significant milestone in IBTE’s transformation to become relevant and responsive to the nation’s need. It is essential to give due recognition and project a new image.”

IBTE said it plays an important role towards providing Brunei with the much needed skilled workforce that can help to promote the social and economic development of the nation.

“As the principal provider of technical education and training, the courses offered by IBTE focus on the development of practical skills through competency based training,” IBTE said.

Among the full-time programmes offered include those at the National Technical Education Certificate (NTec) level, Higher National Technical Education Certificate (HNTec) level, Brunei Maritime Academy (BMA) programmes at the Certificate of Proficiency (COP) level, Diploma (BMA) and apprenticeship programmes. In promoting lifelong learning, IBTE also offers modular programmes through Continuing Education and Training (CET).
