THREE business premises in the vicinities of Kg Kilanas, Kg Tg Bunut, Kg Sengkurong and Kg Jerudong were fined for unauthorised dumping and open burning activities.

The premises were issued a compound for violating Chapter 30 of the Minor Offences Act, following a surprise inspection conducted by the Brunei-Muara District Office’s Licensing and Enforcement Section in the vicinities yesterday.

A press statement from the Brunei-Muara District Office yesterday said that two of the companies were fined $200 each for piling waste in public space and conducting open burning.

Meanwhile, another company was fined $500 for abandoning their construction materials out in the open.

The statement further said that the owners of these business premises were given one week to pay the fine or failure to do so would result in legal actions.

The Licensing and Enforcement Section reminded all business owners especially grocery stores, workshops, supermarkets, stalls, restaurants as well as members of the public to maintain cleanliness in their business environment and in public places.

The Brunei-Muara District Office said that it will not hesitate to take action on any parties found violating the Act with $1000 fine for the first offense and $3000 for second offense or jail time not more than three months.
