Condolence book at Philippines Chancery

THE Philippines Chancery at Jalan Kebangsaan opened a book of condolences yesterday to honour the memory of the late Philippine’s Foreign Affairs Secretary Domingo L Siazon, Jr.

The late diplomat passed away on May 3 in Tokyo, Japan.

According to a press statement from the Philippines Embassy, Domingo L Siazon, Jr had served for 44 years in the Philippines Foreign Service from 1966 to 2010.

From 1975 to 1986, he was Philippines Ambassador to Austria while also serving as Permanent Representative to the International Atomic Agency and the United Nations of Vienna.

He also held positions as the Director-General of the United Nations Industrial Development Organisation (UNIDO), Foreign Affairs Secretary and the Ambassador to Japan which was his last position in the Foreign Service (2001-2010).

A number of diplomats and officials from foreign embassies in Brunei signed the condolence book yesterday.

The signing will continue today until 4pm.
