RUSSIA’s MGIMO University is inviting students from Brunei to apply for a degree programme at its School of Government and International Affairs, which is especially designed for international students.

According to a statement by the Russian embassy here, the university offers English-language programmes for foreign students.

MGIMO University is Russia’s most prestigious educational institution for young people with international interests, the statement said.

For over six decades, the MGIMO University has been educating professionals who serve in diplomacy, politics, public, private and non-profit organisations to make a difference in the world.

In 2005, His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah, the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam was honoured with an honorary doctorate degree of the MGIMO University.

The bachelor in Government and International Affairs is intended for students wishing to do graduate research afterwards, as well as for careers in practical fields – such as domestic politics and diplomacy, international business, and intelligence analysis – anything which demands profound analytical skills coupled with impeccable foreign language fluency, the Russian embassy statement said.

Some 50 students will be admitted for the programme in 2016, with classes scheduled to commence on September 1.

MGIMO University was one of the first Russian universities to join the European Universities Association, and is a signatory to the Bologna accords.

Application deadline is July 15, 2016. For more details, students are welcome to contact MGIMO School of Government and International Affairs by calling + 7 (499) 431-30-53, e-mail: or through their website at
