Society give gifts to babies

THE Brunei Darussalam Red Crescent Society (BDRCS) yesterday presented gifts to babies born on World Red Cross and Red Crescent Day which falls annually on May 8.

A total of 16 babies were born in the country’s three districts; 11 in Brunei-Muara, three in Belait and two in the Tutong district.

No birth was recorded in the Temburong district on the same day.

Present to hand over the gifts at the Raja Isteri Pengiran Anak Saleha (RIPAS) Hospital in Brunei-Muara was BDRCS Advisor Datin Hjh Siti Hajar POKSS Paduka Hj Mohd Yussof.

Meanwhile at the Pengiran Muda Mahkota Pengiran Muda Haji Al-Muhtadee Billah Hospital in the Tutong district, parents of the newborns were presented with gifts by the spouse of the Acting Director of the Tutong District Office Hj Adnan Hj Adam, Hjh Rusmah Hj Muksin.

Hjh Rusmah was accompanied by the BDRCS Director of the Tutong district, Musa Johari.

In the Belait district, gifts were presented by the spouse of LegCo member Yang Berhormat Hj Mohd Yusof Dulamin, Hjh Seliha Hj Mokti at the Suri Seri Begawan Hospital (SSBH).

The gifts were consisted of daily necessities for the newborns such as baby boxes and baby wipes, among others.

In an interview with The Brunei Times, BDRCS Deputy President (National) Hj Awang Morni Hj Awang Damit said this is the first time the association has organised such event.

InsyaAllah this event will be held yearly with the cooperation from members of the public, BDRCS members from all four districts and relevant agencies.”
