UNIVERSITI Teknologi Brunei (UTB) recently held early talks with Swansea University of the United Kingdom on the possibility of research collaboration in the energy field.

In a phone interview, UTB Vice-Chancellor Associate Professor Dr Hjh Zohrah Hj Sulaiman said that Swansea University’s Energy Safety Research Institute (ESRI) was interested in conducting petroleum energy research together, as UTB has an oil and gas research thrust.

At the moment, the next step for UTB would be to wait for a research proposal from Swansea University’s side, said Dr Hjh Zohrah.

According to the UTB website, Dr Hjh Zohrah met with a four-member delegation from Swansea University on May 3.

Among them were Swansea University’s Senior Pro Vice Chancellor Professor Iwan Davies, Ser Cymru Chair of Low Carbon Energy and Environment Professor Andrew Barron, Development Officer for Middle and Far East Region Dr Mahaboob Basha and Regional Manager for South and Southeast Asia Shelley Matthews.

The delegates had previously met with UTB Assistant Vice-Chancellor (Research) Professor Dr Nawaf Saeid and Assistant Vice-Chancellor (Industry and Services) Pg Dr Saiful Baharin Pg Hj Duraman at an earlier meeting.
