FIVE Universiti Brunei Darussalam (UBD) students under the Brunei Youth Council yesterday donated household essentials to the Senior Citizen Activity Centre in Lambak Kanan.

The donated items were bought using money raised by selling bracelets made by students of Chung Ching Middle School, Seria.

Under the guidance of the UBD students, the Chung Ching Middle School students made 200 bracelets that were later sold to the public.

The outreach project gave the students a chance to acquire a new skill and was also an opportunity for them to give back to the community, the Brunei Youth Council said in a statement.

The proceeds were used to buy household items such as cooking pots, shoe racks and brooms to improve the facilities at the Senior Citizen Activities Centre.

Present to receive the items was Manager of Senior Citizen Activities Centre Hj Muhammad Hussin Hj A Yusof.

The Brunei Youth Council is a non-government and non-profit volunteer organisation that was established in 1962.

The council said its youth members are constantly provided opportunities for capacity building through its internship programme, allowing them to learn about project planning and community work.
