Nine bundles of joy born on National Family Day

A TOTAL of nine babies were born nationwide on this year’s National Family Day, May 1, the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports said in a statement.

Out of the total newborns, six were delivered at the Raja Isteri Pengiran Anak Saleha (RIPAS) Hospital with three babies in each gender recorded.

The first baby born at 4.19am was a girl and the first child to Abdul Rawi Hj Metarsad and spouse Siti Amalina Hj Alias.

Datin Paduka Hjh Jahrah Hj Mohamed, the spouse of the minister of home affairs, presented gifts in the form of baby necessities at RIPAS hospital yesterday.

In Belait district, Suri Seri Begawan Hospital registered two births on May 1 - a boy and a girl.

The baby boy is son to Mohd Sahli Hazlan Hj Sidop and Nurul Farahanah Hj Mahdi, while the newborn girl is the child of Sufian Hj A Amid and Normelati Hj Rosli @ Hj Sidop.

Meanwhile, Pengiran Muda Mahkota Pengiran Muda Al-Muhtadee Billah Hospital in Tutong welcomed the birth of baby girl who is the fifth child to parents Mohd Sofian Hj Simpul and Hafizah Sulaiman.

In celebrating the Family Day’s babies, gift presentation ceremonies were also held at both districts, attended by Datin Hjh Kalshom Hj Suhaili, wife of the minister of culture, youth and sports and Datin Hjh Sarimah Hj Umar, wife of the health minister in Belait and Tutong, respectively.

No birth was recorded for PIHM Hospital in Temburong for this year’s Family Day.

Themed ‘Anakku, Harapanku’ (My Child, My Hope), this was the fourth year the ceremony has been held to mark National Family Day.
