Application now open for Japan scholarships
BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN
BRUNEIAN citizens who wish to further their studies in Japan can now apply for the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT) Scholarship Programme for 2017.
The Embassy of Japan said in a statement yesterday that the Japanese government MEXT Scholarship offers programmes for research students, undergraduate students, college of technology students and specialised training college students.
Applicants must be Bruneian citizens and should possess an excellent academic record.
The composition of each programme is different, but all of them cover tuition, living expenses and transportation between Brunei and Japan.
Interested students are encouraged to apply by Thursday, June 30, 2016.
“This is a valuable opportunity for Bruneians to study in Japan which will lead them to broaden their perspectives and increase their future job prospects,” the statement said.
A number of Bruneians have been awarded the scholarship every year. Under the programme, not only have students enhanced their academic qualifications, but they have also learned about the Japanese people, culture and language.
Further information regarding eligibility and the fields of study can be obtained from the Embassy of Japan’s website at http://www.bn.emb-japan.go.jp/education/mext2017.html.
