RTB quiz awards best students

A MAKTAB Sains student finished the best in several academic fields as she took first place yesterday in the final episode of “Kuiz Bintang Pelajar 2016” hosted by State broadcaster Radio Televisyen Brunei (RTB).

Winning $500 and obtaining the highest score of 34 points, Nurul Aqilah Aminudin outshone her peers with St Andrews student Nurul Afiqah Md Norilham attaining 31 points, Ian Low Yee En from Pengiran Anak Puteri Hjh Rashidah Sa’adatul Bolkiah Lumut Secondary School achieving 17 points and Muizaddin Muhaimin Mazleenoor of Chung Hwa Middle School earning 14 points.

Taking place in the Dewan Raya at RTB in the capital, the subjects the students were quizzed on included Islamic knowledge, Maths, Combined Science, Malay Islamic Monarchy (MIB) and Malay and English Language where questions were posed in a subjective or objective (multiple choice) format.

The students were also quizzed on general knowledge and Kenali Negara Kitani or national general knowledge in the form of rapid questions.

The questions in this category included the slogans of national radio stations such as Pelangi FM and Kristal FM as well as affirming some of the objectives of Wawasan 2035 or Vision 2035.

According to a press release issued by RTB, “Kuiz Bintang Pelajar 2016” is a collaboration between RTB and the Curriculum Development Department under the Ministry of Education.

The game show was established to produce students with confidence and knowledge in the field of academics by answering questions in front of the public.

On hand to present the awards was the guest of honour, Director of RTB Hj Md Suffian Hj Bungsu.
