Social welfare council donates wheelchair to stroke-hit fisherman

A FISHERMAN who had recently suffered a stroke received a wheelchair from the Council on Social Welfare (MKM).

Thirty-five-year-old Hj Rahman Hj Ibrahim lost means to earn an income following a stroke which rendered him unable to move the left-side of his body.

On hand to present the donation contributed by BLIA Sdn Bhd was MKM Vice President II Pehin Orang Kaya Laila Perkasa Colonel (Rtd) Dato Paduka Hj Mahdini Dato Paduka Hj Basir.

The donation took place at the house of the recipient’s family in Kg Menunggol Laut.

In a press statement, MKM said the young fisherman is in need of disposable diapers, which cost around $30 monthly.

The charity organisation added that the recipient is now residing with his two elderly parents, and now rely on his parents’ old age pension.

MKM’s General Secretary Hamidah Lakem, called on members of the public to come forward to give assistance to Hj Rahman by contributing monetary donations or other items.
