RB flights diverted due to heavy rain
BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN
NATIONAL flag carrier Royal Brunei (RB) Airlines diverted two of its incoming flights to Kota Kinabalu when thundershowers hit parts of Brunei-Muara on Saturday evening.
Flight BI424 from Singapore to Bandar Seri Begawan and Flight BI874 from Kuala Lumpur to Bandar Seri Begawan were diverted to the neighbouring city in Sabah as a precaution due to bad weather at Brunei International Airport on April 23, according to a statement issued by RB yesterday.
RB said both flights safely landed in Bandar Seri Begawan at 2.10am and 2.20am on April 24 respectively. The flight from Singapore was initially scheduled to arrive at 11.30pm, while the flight from Kuala Lumpur was originally due at 11.38pm.
The Meteorological Department reported thundershowers with a wind speed of 19km/h at the Brunei International Airport around 10pm, following an aviation weather advisory issued at 9.30pm.
