THE Youth and Sports Department (JBS) continues to welcome applicants for the 43rd Ship for Southeast Asian Youth (SSEAYP) Programme.

The SSEAYP is a youth exchange programme specifically between young people from Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) countries and Japan aimed at fostering understanding and international cooperation.

According to the programme’s coordinator for Brunei, Abdul Aziz Ahmad, this year, the programme will take place for 51 days from October 25 to December 15. A total of 29 applicants from Brunei will be selected for the programme.

The programme will start in Japan and continue in Vietnam, Thailand, Singapore and Indonesia before concluding in Japan.

Registration is open to citizens of His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah, the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam, or permanent residents of Brunei.

Abdul Aziz said applicants will be required to attend an interview and take a written test in May.

“The final results will be released after Hari Raya, and each selected applicant will have to join a leadership camp (in Brunei) and pre-departure training.”

The forms can be collected from the JBS office in each district and must be completed and returned no later than Saturday, April 30 at 4pm.

For further enquiries, the public can refer to the department’s hotline at 2232911 or 2380715 or its website at
