Court hearing for man accused of molesting his 13-year-old daughter

A 41-YEAR-OLD man accused of molesting his daughter will have his case heard at the Intermediate Court next week.

The prosecution yesterday filed new charges against the defendant, whose name is to remain anonymous to protect the victim’s identity. He is now facing a total of three counts of outraging the modesty of his 13-year-old daughter - when he groped her breasts on two separate occasions this year and a charge in 2014, when he is accused of touching her private parts.

The penalty carries a prison term of three to 10 years and an unspecified number of whippings.

During the proceedings yesterday, the prosecution’s application to remit the case to the Intermediate Court was granted, and further mention of the case is scheduled to be held on April 18 before Intermediate Court Judge Pg Hjh Hanani Pg Hj Metussain.

The defendant, who is unrepresented, was released on $10,000 bail pending next week’s mention of the case.
