TWO foreigners in Kuala Belait were issued special passes on Tuesday in a routine operation conducted by the National Registration and Immigration Department (JIPK) to verify their personal documentation.

According to a press statement sent by the department, another foreigner was also issued a special pass to assist JIPK’s investigations.

The operation saw four personnel from the department inspecting renovation projects at the Kg Mumong area, grass cutters at the Pandan 6 area and a staff house located on Jalan Dipa Negara.

All three are required to visit the department for further action.

The operation also saw two other foreigners detained and brought to the department after they were found to have fled from their original employers.

The findings from the department showed that the two detained foreigners’ immigration passes had expired in September last year and they have overstayed in the country for 211 days.

The department added that they will continue to carry out operations individually and in collaborations with other enforcement agencies.

The JIPK also urged members of the public to report any information related to immigration offences to the department at 8753888 or 8734888. Details of informants will be kept confidential.
