THE Women Graduates Association of Brunei Darussalam (PSW) is calling on foreign envoys to represent their country next weekend during a charity run held to mark International Women’s Day.

PSW President Pg Hjh Zabaidah Hj Kamaluddin encouraged more diplomats to participate in the “Let’s Walk/Run Ladies 2016” event on April 17 at the Colonnade, Jerudong Park.

“As this event is being held to commemorate International Women’s Day, we want all foreign diplomats to join us in a show of solidarity,” she said.

Pg Hjh Zabaidah said the money raised during the event will go towards helping families in need as well as fund some of the PSW’s programmes.

Although online registration has already closed, interested participants can register at Hassanal Bolkiah National Stadium until April 9. Pre-registered participants can collect their running kits from 4pm to 6pm in front of the Hassanal office near the Stadium Restaurant.

Between 300 and 500 people are expected to participate in the run, which is divided into three categories — 10km, 5km and 3km.

International Women’s Day (IWD), which is observed every March 8, carries the theme #PledgeForParity this year.

According to IWD’s website, everyone – men and women – can pledge to take a concrete step to help achieve gender parity more quickly, whether to help women and girls achieve their ambitions, call for gender-balanced leadership, respect and value difference, develop more inclusive and flexible cultures or root out workplace bias.
