Brunei delegation in Muscat for bilateral meet

A HIGH-LEVEL delegation from Brunei is in Muscat for the 16th Bilateral Consultative Meeting between Brunei Darussalam and the Sultanate of Oman, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade said yesterday.

The delegation was led by Minister at the Prime Minister’s Office and Second Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade YB Pehin Orang Kaya Pekerma Dewa Dato Seri Setia Lim Jock Seng and Minister of Energy and Industry at the Prime Minister’s Office YB Pehin Datu Singamanteri Colonel (Rtd) Dato Seri Setia (Dr) Hj Mohammad Yasmin Hj Umar.

According to the Oman News Agency (ONA), the group visited the headquarters of the Public Establishment for Industrial Estates (PEIE) where they were briefed on investment opportunities in Oman.

The news agency said the PEIE aims to enhance Oman’s position as a regional centre of manufacturing, information and communication technology, innovation and entrepreneurship excellence.

Its mission is to stimulate private sector growth and attract industrial investments through “globally competitive strategies, good infrastructure, value-added services, and smooth government processes”.

Officials at Muscat’s Industrial Innovation Centre (IIC) also briefed the Brunei Darussalam delegation on “assisting industrial progression through research and development”, and building capacity by encouraging local academic institutions to engage in applied industrial research and development.

The delegation also held a meeting with Sayyid Badr bin Hamad bin Hamood Al-Busaidi, Secretary-General of Oman’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
