PUJA seeks to formalise student chapter for Politeknik Brunei
THE Brunei Association of Surveyors, Engineers and Architects (PUJA) is in the process of formalising a student chapter for Politeknik Brunei (PB) which would allow its students to gain first hand access to expert knowledge on construction.
Vice president (Architect) of PUJA Siti Rozaimeriyanty DSLJ Hj Abd Rahman yesterday said that the association was looking to continue its momentum of increasing membership, especially in its student chapter which was established in June last year.
“These youth will be the future professionals in the construction industry, so reaching out to them early will benefit us (PUJA) and as well as the students,” said Siti Rozaimeriyanty yesterday after PUJA’s engagement with PB Lumut students.
The vice president said that PUJA’s content and contacts would complement what is being taught in the classroom, through exposing students to how the market operates.
“Students can come to know what is expected by the industry, learn what communication skills are needed and see for themselves the opportunities out there,” she said.
Being a member would allow students to attend PUJA's conferences, talks and workshops as well as specially organised site visits.
Teachers of courses relating to construction and building are also encouraged to join PUJA as full members, allowing them to get up to date information on market trends and demands.
PUJA is also planning for a student chapter with the Institute of Brunei Technical Education Nakhoda Ragam Vocational School (IBTE SVNR) campus in the near future.
