Man fined $1,500 for consuming Syabu

A local man was fined $1,500 yesterday after pleading guilty to consuming methylamphetamine.Sukaime Awg Ali Osman, 39, was arrested by enforcement officers from the Narcotics Control Bureau on May 4, 2015 at a house in RPN Kg Rimba.

Upon an initial search by the officers, no drugs were found on the defendant or in the house.

The defendant was then ordered to give a urine sample at the NCB offices on Jln Tungku, which tested positive for the presence of the drug, locally known as Syabu.

After being sentenced at the Magistrates’ Court, the defendant was ordered by Presiding Chief Magistrate Muhammed Faisal PDJLD DSP Hj Kefli to pay the fine within three months or face three months in prison. This is the defendant’s first conviction for a drug offence.The Brunei Times
