Women’s group launches online survey on sexual harassment
ABOUT 70 per cent respondents of sexual harassment are from the public sector, according to the ongoing online survey conducted by the Women Graduates Association of Brunei Darussalam (PSW).
Early findings state that 67.6 per cent of the respondents were from the public sector, while 27.9 per cent were from private sector with the remaining 4.4 per cent of the respondents were from unspecified areas.
The initial findings were collected over the period of less than two weeks since the survey went online on March 8. The online survey will be collecting information from the public until April 8 this year and the results of the analysis to be unveiled soon after.
“We hope that people will give their support and provide us with good information, so that the analysis will be more accurate,” said the executive member of PSW Dk Khadijah Pg Badaruddin who spoke on the progress of the online survey.
She said that with an accurate analysis, it will allow the association to look into effective methods to overcome this issue.
While the numbers are still early to determine the majority of the respondents, Dk Khadijah said that they will be taking steps to broaden the types of respondents and disseminate the link to survey not only the public sector but also to the private sector to better give an accurate picture.
On March 8, PSW launched an online survey on sexual harassment in the workplace in a bid to explore and identify problems that may be faced by women on sexual harassment in the workplace as well as how far and how prevalent are its occurrences.
Survey forms have been distributed through social media and e-mail and the information will be collected until April 8, 2016. Online survey forms are available at: http://goo.gl/forms/iVWa25ytbJ
The online survey will ask basic information on the respondents before moving on to questions on definition, understanding and awareness of sexual harassment followed by the types of sexual harassment and actions taken against sexual harassment.
