Two men get 4 years for theft, burglary

The Intermediate Court yesterday sentenced two men to four years in prison for auto theft, one of which was also convicted of a burglary charge.

Muhd Sharifuddin Abd Manaf, 25, stole six cars in less than a month between November and December last year while Mohd Taqiyuddin Awg Taha, 29, was an accomplice during the last car theft they committed before being arrested.

The most prolific spell in Muhd Sharifuddin’s stealing spree was between December 20 and December 22, 2015 when he stole a car on three consecutive nights.

Mohd Taqiyuddin was additionally convicted of trespassing and stealing a raft of items ranging from socks to television sets at a house in Kg Lambak Kanan alongside two other accomplices in January of this year.

The total sentence handed down by Presiding Judge Hj Abdullah Soefri POKSM Dato Seri Paduka Hj Abidin to Muhd Sharifuddin was four years’ imprisonment while Mohd Taqiyuddin received four years and two strokes of the cane.The Brunei Times
