HRH graces Brunei-China friendship group event

HER Royal Highness Princess Hjh Masna, Ambassador-At-Large at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade was treated to colourful and lively acrobatic performances last night at Jerudong International School (JIS)’s Art Center.

Accompanying Her Royal Highness was her spouse, Chief of Adat Istiadat Yang Amat Mulia Pengiran Lela Cheteria Sahibun Najabah Pengiran Anak Hj Abdul Aziz.

Present to receive HRH Princess Hjh Masna and YAM Pengiran Lela Cheteria Sahibun Najabah were Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports, Yang Berhormat Pehin Datu Lailaraja Major General (Rtd) Dato Paduka Seri Hj Awg Halbi Hj Mohd Yusof, Ambassador of China to Brunei Darussalam Yang Jian and President of the Brunei-China Association Ang Swee Chuan and wife.

The acrobatic troupe from China’s Jiangsu Province began the performance with a group of girls juggling and passing large drums among one another with only their feet.

This was then followed by a performance that involved acrobatics on a hanging rope with heart-pumping music playing in the background that left the audience enthralled.

Shortly after, a ‘Summer Frog’ performance took place where the performer dressed as a frog performed using a large hula hoop.

The audience were also treated to mellow and several other mesmerising performances by the acrobatic troupe.

Prior to the performances, HRH Princess Hjh Masna toured an exhibition displaying pictures of the 25th Diplomatic Relations between Brunei Darussalam and China.

In her speech, Ambassador Yang Jian said China was happy to see the fruitful results in bilateral exchanges and cooperation in various fields.

She said the Chinese Government and people will continue to work in expanding and strengthening the cooperation between the two countries so as to promote mutual benefits.

“I am convinced that with the strong support of His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah, the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam, the Bruneian government and different circles of the society here, the relations between both countries will have broader prospects in the future.”

The ambassador then extended her best wishes to all the women present to commemorate International Women’s Day which is celebrated annually on March 8.

Also present to watch the performances were Yang Amat Mulia Pengiran Anak Hj Abdul Quddus and spouse.

The event was organised by the Embassy of China with the cooperation of the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports (MCYS) and the Brunei-China Friendship Association in conjunction with the 25th Diplomatic Relations between Brunei Darussalam and China.

A press statement from MCYS said the performances were organised to help promote cultural exchange towards strengthening cooperative relations between the two countries.
