A BRUNEIAN man accused of raping his daughter was charged with an additional six counts of rape against another daughter and attempting to rape a third before having his case remitted to the High Court yesterday.

He was previously charged with three counts of raping one of his daughters but the prosecutors had asked for more time to conduct further investigations as they suspected that he had raped his other daughters as well.

The finalised charge sheet presented to the presiding magistrate Dewi Norlelawati Hj Abd Hamid in the Magistrates’ Court yesterday now alleges that the 52-year-old defendant had raped one of his daughter, Miss X, four times between 2002 and 2003 when the victim was still a minor.

He is accused of attempting to rape another daughter, Miss Y, in a house along Jln Lamunin in Tutong sometime in 2014 while the victim was still a minor.

The defendant is also accused of raping yet another daughter, Miss Z, on two separate occasions in Kg Birau, Tutong while the victim was still a minor.

He again allegedly raped Miss X a further two times in February 2016.

While appearing in court yesterday, the defendant requested to be allowed to see his family but was denied by the presiding magistrate on the grounds that his family members are also both complainants and witnesses in the case.

No plea was recorded yesterday and the defendant was ordered to remain remanded at the Bandar Seri Begawan Police Station until the next mention of the case at the High Court.

The date for the next mention at the High Court was not confirmed during yesterday’s proceedings as the court was unable to immediately find a suitable day in its schedule.
