MoD honours retirees in ceremony

The Ministry of Development held a certificate of appreciation presentation ceremony yesterday at the Work and Training Skills Test Centre in Berakas for 146 retired officers and staff.

Present as the guest of honour was Minister of Development Yang Berhormat Dato Paduka Hj Bahrin Abdullah, who handed out the certificates.

In his speech, MoD’s Acting Director of Administration and Finance, Pg Kamis Pg Metamin, said retiring shouldn’t be an obstruction to continuing one’s service and contribution to the religion and nation.

“During one’s retirement, a retiree can make use of his time doing beneficial things such as involving himself in the business world; working in the private sector, which tests his skills and knowledge; volunteer work and even community work,” said Pg Kamis, who was also the event’s chairman.

According to a press release, the certificates were presented in appreciation of all the efforts, sacrifices and contributions made by the retirees.

Of the 146 retirees, 106 were male and 40 were female. The period of their retirement commencement was from October 1, 2014 to December 31, 2015.

Also present was Deputy Minister of Development Dato Paduka Hj Suhaimi Hj Gapar, Deputy Permanent Secretary Hj Marzuke Hj Mohsin, who was the Acting Permanent Secretary of Administration and Finance, and heads of departments, divisions and units under the MoD.
