Turkish scholarship programme now open for application
BRUNEIAN students can now apply for a range of fully-funded scholarships offered by the Turkish government.
The Turkish embassy in Brunei is calling for applications for the Türkiye Scholarships Programme, for students who want to pursue full-time undergraduate and postgraduate degrees at a Turkish university.
The scholarship covers full tuition, a monthly stipend, accommodation, round-trip air ticket and health insurance.
For students who choose to attend academic programmes in Turkish, free language courses will be provided for a period of one to two years. Several Turkish universities also offer programmes in English.
Institutions offer a range of courses including science, engineering, technology, social sciences, Islamic studies and medical sciences.
“Türkiye Scholarships are awarded to outstanding students and there is no limit for the number of Bruneian students to obtain these scholarships,” the embassy said in a statement.
Sri Munawwarah Hj Awg Lamat became the first Bruneian to be awarded a Turkish scholarship in 2014, under the Presidency for Turks Abroad and Related Communities, which grants close to 4,000 scholarships to international students each year.
Altogether, there are currently seven Bruneians studying in Istanbul, according to the Brunei Darussalam embassy in Ankara.
Students can apply for scholarships online through www.turkiyescholarships.gov.tr.
The closing date for application is on March 31, 2016.
Candidates who are interested in the Türkiye Scholarships can also contact the Turkish Embassy in Brunei Darussalam via e-mail (firstname.lastname@example.org) or phone (233 9743) for more information.
