Brunei passport 23rd best for ease of travel

BRUNEIAN passports are currently ranked 23rd when it comes to ease of travelling to countries without a visa.

According to the 2016 Henley & Partners Visa Restrictions Index published recently, a Brunei passport allows visa-free access to 151 out of 218 countries and territories.

Brunei ranks third among Southeast Asian countries for ease of traveling, behind Singapore and Malaysia which placed fifth and 12th, respectively, in the overall ranking.

Brunei’s rank of 23 was a drop from 18th place in 2015 and 17th in 2014.

For 2016, German citizens hold the best passports with visa-free access to 177 countries, followed by Sweden with visa-free access to 176 countries.

Finland, France, Italy, Spain and the United Kingdom are tied for third place, with visa-free access to 175 countries.

The worst passport for global travelling is Afghanistan, with visa-free access to just 25 countries, followed by Pakistan with access to 29 countries and Iraq to 30 countries.

According to information provided by Henley and Partners, the Henley & Partners Visa Restrictions Index is a global ranking of countries according to the travel freedom that their citizens enjoy.

The index is published annually.

The annual index is produced in cooperation with the International Air Transport Association (IATA), which maintains the world’s largest database of travel information.
