Cruise ship MS Silver Shadow docks at Muara Port

THE Muara Port received the arrival of the cruise ship MS Silver Shadow yesterday morning.

According to a press statement sent by the Ports Department, the vessel stayed at the Muara Port for about 14 hours and was welcomed by the Assistant Director of Ports Department Mohd Fazilah Hj Md Yassin.

Upon the vessel’s arrival, an exchange of souvenirs happened between Mohd Fazilah and the captain of the MS Silver Shadow, Marco Sangiacomo.

The 186m vessel carried 369 passengers and 292 crews and is the 11th vessel to call at Muara Port this year.

The highest numbers recorded in the last five years were in 2013, with 26, 865 passengers and 16, 351 crew, according to the statement.

Itadded that the cruise ships that chose Muara Port as one of their ports of calls will help create more business opportunities as they will increase the number of tourists visiting the Sultanate.

Officers from the Ports Department and Tourism Development Department, as well as attachment students from the Institut Teknologi Brunei and the Commerce and Technology Cosmopolitan College were also in attendance.

The Ports Department said it will continuously collaborate with the Tourism Development Department in promoting the country to attract more visitors from the region and around the world.

“The department will also continue its efforts in negotiating with cruise owners to attract more cruise vessels to make frequent calls at Muara Port,” read the statement.
