A ‘ONE Village One Product’ Exhibition showcasing locally made products by Village Consultative Councils (MPK) in the Brunei-Muara district is currently being held at the Times Square Shopping Centre.
Level I Assistant Officer at the Mukim and Kampung Institution Section of the Brunei-Muara District Office Noor Sarina Hj Kassim told The Brunei Times that the exhibition acts as a platform for the various MPKs to market their products and services.
“This is going to be an annual activity. We may organise it four times a year where we will help the MPKs promote their products and services so it would gain more exposure among members of the public,” said Noor Sarina.
There is no set date and location yet for the next three exhibitions to be held this year, said the assistant officer.
“The products and services here are made by people from all walks of life including pensioners, the elderly and youth.
“Not only would it help boost the economy but it keeps our culture of ‘gotong-royong’ alive and showcases this part of our culture,” she said.
There are more than 10 booths that have been set up for the different MPKs.
The booths feature food products, handicrafts, woven items and medicinal herbs, among others.
The exhibition which was launched yesterday will conclude on Sunday.
It is open to members of the public from 10am to 10pm with the exception of Friday where it will temporarily close from 12pm to 2pm to make way for Friday prayers.
The exhibition was launched by the Acting Brunei-Muara District Officer Misle Hj Abd Karim.
The exhibition also saw the launch of two new products, the Madu Kelulut (stingless bee honey) by the Tungku/Katok MPK and the bedak kelulut and pirasang by the Sungai Kebun MPK.
