Kg Perpindahan Tungku fire resulted in fatality, damages: Fire Dept

THE fire that broke out in STKRJ Kg Perpindahan Tungku Gadong on February 18 resulted in one fatality and damages of up to $50,000.

In a statement released by the Fire Department yesterday, the fire at the top level of the two-storey house was believed to be caused by a child playing with a lighter.

The fire took the life of Ahmad Nurzaki Iman Ahmad Juzlan.

According to the department, the victim was rescued by the firefighters as he was trapped on the second floor of the burning house.

The victim was then rushed to the Raja Isteri Pengiran Anak Saleha (RIPAS) Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

The department said they received an emergency call at 2.58pm where three fire engines from the Rimba, Berakas and Bandar fire station were dispatched.

The fire was brought under control eight minutes later by 23 firefighters from the three stations.

Another house fire also broke out earlier in the day at RPN Kg Panchor Mangkubau Mentiri where the fire caused a total of $5,000 worth of damages.

After receiving an emergency call at 9.26am, one fire engine and five firefighters from Mentiri fire station were dispatched.

Upon arrival of the firefighters at the scene, the residents of the village had already brought the fire under control by using a rubber hose pipe.

The department said the fire is believed to be caused by a damaged ceiling fan that overheated.

No fatalities or injuries were reported.
