A delegation from Islamic University Malaysia (UIM) visited Universiti Islam Sultan Sharif Ali (UNISSA) yesterday.

The visit follows the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) by the institutions in May last year on collaborating in academic and non-academic programmes.

Welcoming the delegation was Dr Hj Mohd Hussain Pehin Penyurat Hj Ahmad in his capacity as the chairperson of the visit.

According to a statement by UNISSA, he hopes the visit’s outcome will see collaboration and coordination of future programmes between the two institutes which will benefit both parties.

UIM’s Professor Dr Mohamad Abdul Hamid, Dean of Academic and Industrial Relations, headed the delegation to Brunei. Accompanying him was Professor Dato Dr Noor Inayah Yaakub, Director of the Global Wisdom Academy.

The statement said the visit was aimed at coordinating plans for this year in detail, especially regarding academic activities and joint research between the two universities.

The visit also served as a medium for continuing discussions of issues from previous meetings by UIM’s president and UNISSA’s rector.

Among the issues that were discussed previously was to form networking between the institutions specifically in the fields of Islamic Law, Islamic Finance and Comparative Heritage. Co-organising seminars or conferences was also explored as future plans by UNISSA and UIM.

UNISSA Rector Dr Hj Norarfan Hj Zainal and UNISSA Assistant Rector Dr Arman Hj Asmad were also in attendance during the visit along with directors and officers of UNISSA.
