Registration open for ASEAN energy competition

THE Energy and Industry Department at the Prime Minister’s Office (EIDPMO) is inviting government and private agencies to participate in this year’s ASEAN Energy Awards competition.

The competition is organised by the ASEAN Centre for Energy (ACE) in collaboration with the Energy Conservation Centre of Japan (ECCJ) and Japan’s Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI).

The competition has three categories: the renewable energy project competition, where the project must be in operation for at least a year, the energy efficient building competition, which has several subcategories, and the energy management competition, where the building must be operational for at least two years.

Winners of the competition will receive prestigious recognition from ACE as one of the best practice sustainable energy projects in the ASEAN region.

The awards ceremony will take place during the 34th ASEAN Ministers on Energy Meeting (AMEM).

Last year, Brunei bagged second place in the ASEAN Energy Awards Renewable Energy Project: Off-Grid category. The Ministry of Religious Affairs (MoRA) in collaboration with the EIDPMO and the Brunei National Energy Research Institute (BNERI) won the award for the project titled “10 kilowatt peak (kWp) Solar Photovoltaic (PV) System at Balai Ibadat Kampong Sukang”.
