Birthday prayers for Deputy Sultan

THE Prime Minister’s Office and its departments yesterday hosted a thanksgiving ceremony for His Royal Highness Prince Haji Al-Muhtadee Billah, the Deputy Sultan, on the occasion of the Crown Prince’s birthday.

The ceremony, held at Masjid Ash-Shaliheen, was attended by Dato Paduka Haji Mohd Roselan Haji Mohd Daud, Acting Minister of Energy and Industry at the Prime Minister’s Office; Permanent Secretaries; Deputy Permanent Secretaries, Heads of Departments, Senior Officials and personnel at the PMO.

The ceremony began with the recitation of Surah Yassin and Tahlil led by the Superintendent of the Masjid Sultan Omar Ali Saifuddien, Zulkifli Haji Murat, followed by the Doa Kesyukuran in conjunction with the Deputy Sultan’s birthday which was recited by the Director of Mosque Affairs, Haji Abdul Rajid Haji Mohd Salleh.

Congregants then commenced with mass Asar prayer led by the Imam of Masjid Ash-Shaliheen, Anuar Haji Salim.

The ceremony was attended by about 300 guests.

Meanwhile, the National Disaster Management Centre (NDMC) also organised a similar ceremony at Masjid Suri Seri Begawan Raja Pengiran Anak Damit in Kg Manggis/ Madang.

The Minister of Home Affairs in his capacity as deputy chairman of National Disaster Council Yang Berhormat Pehin Orang Kaya Seri Kerna Dato Seri Setia (Dr) Hj Awg Abu Bakar Hj Apong attended the event as guest of honour.

Also present at the ceremony were Permanent Secretary Hj Mohd Abdoh Dato Seri Setia Hj Abd Salam as the council’s secretary, council members, and the Royal Brunei Armed Forces’ commander.

Permanent and Deputy Permanent Secretaries and Ministry of Home affairs’ officers and staffs were also in attendance.

Several other similar ceremonies were held in prayer halls and mosques throughout the country organised by various agencies, groups and organisations.
