South Korean scholarship applications now open

BRUNEIANS who are interested in furthering their studies in South Korea can now apply for the 2016 Korean Government Scholarship Programme for Graduate Degrees.
This was announced yesterday in a statement by the Embassy of the Republic of Korea.
The statement said the Global Korea Scholarship (GKS) programme is aimed to promote international exchange in education and mutual friendship amongst the participating countries by providing higher education for international students.
The applicants are required to complete the application forms and submit it to the Korean Embassy via email at firstname.lastname@example.org. The deadline for submission is on March 18.
All documents, including the transcript, self-introduction, study plan, certificates of language proficiency, recommendations, published papers and awards will be comprehensively evaluated.
The results of successful candidates will be announced on June 21, 2016 through the GKS website at www.studyinkorea.go.kr.
The scholarship offers two degree courses, a Master’s degree programme and a Doctoral degree programme.
Both programmes will include one year Korean language course.
The statement said the applicants must choose their desired fields of study from the listed programmes in the University Information section provided by the participating universities.
Prospective applicants must be under 40-years-old as of September 1, 2016 and must be in good health to stay in Korea for an extended period of time.
The applicants must also be a holder of a bachelor’s or master’s degree as of August 31, 2016 which they must possess a cumulative grade point average of at least 80 per cent in their previous institutions.
