Roadshow for civil service awards

THE Management Services Department (MSD) at the Prime Minister’s Office is holding a three-day roadshow for the upcoming Civil Service Excellence Awards (ACPA) 2016.

The roadshow is expected to explain the awards and issue guidelines to ministries and departments that wish to participate in the competition.

There will be three briefings as part of the ongoing roadshow – the history of the awards, the 2016 awards guidelines such as criteria, ratings, standard format of reports and entry forms.

The roadshow, which began yesterday at the Audit Department’s Multi-purpose Hall, also saw the involvement of former winners from the Ministry of Development’s Survey Department.

The team had received the gold award in 2014 for their project, “Survey Spatial Data Infrastructure”.

A representative from the team, Dr Hjh Norzamni Pehin Orang Kaya Shahbandar Dato Seri Paduka Hj Md Salleh, shared the experiences she had with her team on winning the award.

During yesterday’s briefing, members of the audience were reminded to adhere to the awards’ guidelines and meet the requirements of participation or it could be rejected by the Evaluation and Selection Panel.

The awards is divided into two categories – the project paper and proposal paper.

The project paper category is open to civil servants while the proposal paper is open to all Bruneians.

There is no limit to the number of project proposal papers submitted as long as it meets the goals of the ACPA, which are to promote innovation in good governance in the public sector, appreciate the advantages/excellence in the public service, motivate public servants to further promote and encourage innovation, and enhance professionalism in the public service.

The ACPA is currently in its 15th installment and it is held once every two years.

Members of the public who are interested in taking part in the awards can attend the roadshow today and tomorrow from 1.30pm onwards.
