MORE car collisions were recorded in Belait district, rising from 331 in 2014 to 356 last year, police figures showed.

However, Belait saw a drop in number of road fatalities with one documented from a single-vehicle crash in 2015, compared to seven in the previous year.

The statistics were released to the media after the police held a meeting with grassroots leaders at the Belait Police headquarters in Panaga yesterday.

Single-vehicle crashes were reduced from 272 in 2014 to 264 last year, while hit-and-run incidents decreased from 33 to 32 last year. The Belait police also reported a total of 705 traffic cases in 2015, compared to 709 in 2014.
